competition recap: FIRST CUP

the long weekend and first meet of the year is a wrap.


Overall the weekend was positive. I competed new routines, harder routines and showed progress where I had been struggling before. It’s nice to see how far I’ve come since my achilles has been healthy – although I have a long way to go.


I think this has been my strongest start to a year ever – so I’m excited to see where it goes from here. It’s interesting to reflect on the weekend because I am not happy with my performances. There are pieces that went well, but compared to how I have been training and knowing what I can do, it was a 4/10 performance. But this meet alone was leaps and bounds ahead of any meet I’ve had in the last two years. I like the perspective I have on training and competing now. It was interesting preparing myself mentally for this meeting after having almost 8 months off of competing – the longest competition break I’ve had in over 10 years. I went in with a new attitude and perspective that seemed to have worked, but I also have higher expectations of myself than ever.


Here are the videos of my prelims from this weekend. I will try to find my finals passes too. Tramp I didn’t finish my Optional, but hit a personal best in finals. Tumbling was meh.
